Encounter

A fictional adult has three documented wound repairs during one visit. Each wound has a separate location label and closure description. This exercise stipulates that the repairs are otherwise separately reportable; it focuses on grouping and arithmetic rather than the indication for surgery.

First two repairs

The first repair measures 2.4 cm and the second 1.6 cm. Review of the current authorized definitions has confirmed that both belong to the same complexity and anatomical group. Their lengths are documented in centimeters, not estimated from the original injury size.

Third repair

The third repair measures 1.2 cm and belongs to a different anatomical group under the applicable entry. It does not qualify for addition to the first two in this exercise. Its own technique and length remain available for a separate lookup.

Worksheet proposal

One draft adds all three lengths into 5.2 cm. Another uses only the longest repair from the first group. Neither preserves the supplied grouping rule. The learner must show the correct group totals and then use the current length intervals.
